Anamnesis XIX
Kathleen Holder
Anamnesis XIX
2005 | pastel on paper | 30x15 | $4000

Almost like color field, seemingly like color stains, and entirely her own, the moody pastel artworks of Kathleen Holder are like mystical experiences on paper. Ruminating on the unseen energies and forces in our surroundings, Holder’s work seeks to elevate our consciousness to these untouched realms as we ponder the light, the universe, and what life really is, man.

The soft pastel allows Holder to hone in and exaggerate the fading monochrome compositions. The surfaces appear as there is a “beyond” to them, begging us to come in closer and take a better look. The name Anamnesis perfectly embodies Holder’s artwork– the tone, like memories, ebb, and flow into recognition and acknowledgment, peeling back the veil on past worlds and former selves.
